Olsztyn, the city of beach volleyball and Copernicus

Olsztyn, Poland, June 16, 2016 – Polish player Monika Brzostek showed us around in the city of Olsztyn. This week the stadium on the banks of Olsztyn’s Lake Ukiel is the centre of international beach volleyball as top teams from all over the world are engaged in the FIVB World Tour Olsztyn Grand Slam. But Olsztyn is also the city where the famous astronomer Nicolaas Copernicus made his greatest discoveries in the 1500’s.

On her touristic tour in the old town Brzostek talks about the road to the Rio Olympics. She and her partner Kinga Kolosinka qualified for the 2016 Olympic Games through the World Tour ranking.

“We have been working for this for our whole life”, the 26-year old says. “And we are the first Polish women team who gets a chance to play there. So we want to show our best.”
