Heidrich & Zumkehr capture opening Pool B win

Toronto, Canada, September 14, 2016 - Joana Heidrich and Nadine Zumkehr of Switzerland scored a 2-0 (21-15, 21-11) win in 25 minutes over Ana Gallay and Georgina Klug of Argentina in a confrontation pitting two teams that competed in the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.

Being played here Wednesday afternoon as one of the two opening women's matches in the 2016 SWATCH FIVB World Tour Finals on Polson Pier, Heidrich and Zumkehr captured their six win in as many international Beach Volleyball matches with the Argentina pair.

Nadine Zumkehr - “We know them (the Argentinian team) pretty well, it’s always hard to play them because they play with incredible energy.  We always like to play them because it’s tough and it’s emotional.  I think we have a lot of important games this year against them because we were both on the edge of qualifying for the Olympics.  It was nice to play them again at this event.”

Joana Heidrich - “We played really good.  It’s really nice that we start with this win in this tournament.”

Georgina Klug - “We are excited to play against the Germans, they are a great team.  We are proud to play against the Olympic champions.  We have had a couple of tough matches against them.”
