Double the work for Gallay and Klug as Toronto draws ever nearer

Buenos Aires, Argentina, September 8, 2016 – Ana Gallay and Georgina Klug are counting down the days to the start of the FIVB World Tour Finals in Toronto, even if they are currently undergoing arduous training before heading to Canada.

The pair qualified for the tournament that runs from September 13-17 by way of their eighth place standing in the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour. In doing so they are the first Argentinian team to qualify for a tournament that is in its second edition.

The World Tour Finals come hot on the heels of their appearance at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, but means their coach Pablo del Coto is putting them through double training sessions of weights in the morning and work on the sand in the afternoon.

“This is an incredible reality for us,” Klug said. “To be among the best eight teams of the world it is very hard. To belong to the group of these great players after we missed two tournaments due to Ana’s injury makes our effort even greater.

“I believe we have fulfilled a dream we could not even think about at the beginning of the season. It is very hard to obtain this goal and that speaks highly about our performance during the whole international beach volleyball season.”

Gallay and Klug paired up in 2013 and during that time they have established themselves as one of the trickiest pairs to face on the World Tour.

Their best results came in 2015 where the won silver at the Xiamen Open and at the Toronto 2015 Pan-American Games. With 2016 drawing to a close, the Argentines are now preparing to think about their plans for the 2017 season.

“We want to keep at the same rhythm in 2017,” Klug added. “We have planned our work together with our coach, Pablo Del Coto and the goals we want to fulfil as players and as team.

“We want to keep winning, growing and being among the best pairs of each competition and we know that if we do that regularly we can fulfil our targets.”
