Argentina squad begin VNL preparations

 
Lausanne, Switzerland, April 23, 2019 – Argentina’s men’s put their Easter celebrations on hold to start their build up to the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Nations League with coach Marcelo Mendez overseeing the team at the National High Performance Centre.

Mendez has begun his preparations with a squad of 17 players including Maximiliano Cavanna, Gaspar Bitar, Matias Giraudo, Bruno Lima, Manuel Balague, Federico Pereyra, Martin Ramos, Gaston Fernandez, Maximiliano Gauna, Joaquin Gallego, Ezequiel Palacios, Ignacio Luengas, Cristian Poglajen, Lisandro Zanotti, Nicolas Lazo, Luciano Palonsky and Facundo Santucci.

Argentina host their opening group in Mendoza on May 31-June 2, when they will face Portugal, Bulgaria and Canada. 


In week two they take on Japan, Iran and Brazil in Tokyo and in week three they travel to France to take on the hosts, USA and Germany. Italy host week four in Milan when Argentina will also play Serbia and reigning world champions Poland. 

They conclude their pool campaign in Brisbane, Australia from June 28-30 when they take on China, Russia and Australia.


The VNL 2019 Finals will take place in Chicago at the 10,000-capacity Credit Union 1 Arena at the University of Illinois from July 10-14.
