Spotlight on Lube with Club Worlds ambassador Ignaczak

Lausanne, Switzerland, November 28, 2017 - Reigning Italian champions Cucine Lube Civitanova are on a quest to bring Italy back in the limelight when they take to the courts of Poland next month for the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship from December 12 to 17.

Italian clubs had absolutely dominated the competition since its inaugural edition in 1989, winning eight consecutive titles until 2012. Trentino of Trento are the record holders with fourstraight gold medals from 2009 until 2012.

But no Italian side has been in a Club World Championship final since then.

Poland's legendary libero Krzysztof "Igla" Ignaczak, who has been appointed "ambassador" of the competition is travelling around the world to promote the event in each of the participating teams' home cities as they prepare for the big event.

He stopped in Italy to meet with the stars of Lube.

Amongst others, Igla talked to Lube captain Dragan Stankovic and opposite Tsvetan Sokolov.

Lube will be playing in Opole for the first phase of the Club World Championship, together with defending champions Sada Cruzeiro of Contagem, Sarmayeh Bank of Tehran and hosts ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle.

Pool B, in Lodz, features Personal Bolivar, Shanghai Volleyball Club, PGE Skra Belchatow and Zenit Kazan.

The top two teams of each pool will advance to the final phase and travel to Krakow for the semifinals on December 16 and the bronze medal match and final on December 17.

In addition to their YouTube Channel, the organisers have set up a dedicated website, supported by Facebook and Twitter feeds (all in Polish).

Tickets for all pool play and medals round days are available to purchase online.
