Ross continues to help fight against breast cancer

Lausanne, Switzerland, May 19, 2016 – April Ross has been continuing her work in raising awareness of breast cancer by meeting students at the FIVB Cincinnati Open this week. The US-Olympic hopeful met a number of students who raised up to $12,000 through a variety of events for the Sideout Foundation, a charity that was established by a US high school volleyball coach whose mother was fighting breast cancer. Ross’ mother died from breast cancer and the London 2012 silver medallist and 2009 FIVB Beach Volleyball world champion is determined to use her celebrity status to raise awareness and funds to fight the disease. “I think it is amazing what these girls have done and I’m really excited to meet them after all their efforts,” she said. “This cause is really dear to me as I lost my mom to breast cancer, so any way I can be involved or participate in raising awareness for this cause for me is really important. “As a professional athlete using any influence I have or we have to bring these causes into the spotlight and let people know that it is important to contribute in this way to support people who are going through this. “It is really important because they are so young and they’ve taken it upon themselves to do all this and getting to meet them is really meaningful.”To find out more about the Sideout Foundation, click here...
