Shaoxing, China, December 9, 2018 – VakifBank Istanbul came up with a brilliant 3-0 finish against Minas Tenis Clube in front of their Chinese supporters, to take the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's Club World Championship title on Sunday.
VakifBank Istanbul coach Giovanni Guidetti: "I think we really played good in this match. It was very difficult to play against a great team like Minas who plays good defence and has a great attacker like Gabi.
"Zhu played very well today. We had a lot of support from the Chinese fans. It was wonderful to play in front of them."
VakifBank Istanbul captain Ayse Melis Gurkaynak: "We are so happy to win the championship again. I want to thank the Chinese people for supporting our team."
Minas Tenis Clube coach Stefano Lavarini: "We played a difficult match against a very strong team, but I am satisfied with the performance of my team. We did not even think of winning a medal, but the fact that we tried to play our best and finished with a silver medal is already a great achievement."
Minas Tenis Clube captain Carol Gattaz: "Both teams played a great match, but in the end VakifBank was the better team. They had very good players who played well in this match. So they deserved to win."
