First game sets tone for entire tournament - Abaev

 
Brno, Czech Republic, June 23, 2017 – After Russia shut out Cuba in their first match at the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship on Friday, the coaches and the captains of the two teams commented on the game.

Vladimir Khromenkov, coach of Russia: “We have never played with Cuba before, but we knew they have a good and strong team. The first set was balanced but after that we fulfilled our plan.”

Konstantin Abaev, captain of Russia: “This win was very important for us today, because the way you play your first game, the same way you play the entire tournament.”


Nicolas Vives Coffigny, coach of Cuba: “The game was not bad. The first set we played on very high level, but after that our team decreased the level of the game.”

Adrian Eduardo Goide, captain of Cuba: “It was a really hard game. The Russians played very well and on very high level.  They knew how to win the match.”
